THE ROLE
We’re looking for an enthusiastic law or accounting student with an affinity for local compliance, tax, privacy and tech to join the Ops team in Mechelen, Belgium.
Local compliance is constantly changing and we want to help our clients anticipate the impact and optimize their processes to new regulations. You will be supporting us in making sure our clients can adopt a fully paperless and compliant expense management process in the countries we operate. As the Compliance Intern, you will work alongside our legal ops team to help us maintain our compliance knowledge center.
You will be exposed to a variety of strategic projects and initiatives across the organization and also have the opportunity to deliver tangible solutions by the end of your program.
WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING
- Research and monitor market developments, including relevant legislative changes on mileage and per diems rates, e-invoicing requirements, taxable employee benefits etc (Primarily for European countries, LATAM and North-America as a secondary focus).
- Maintain and report compliance findings in knowledge center.
- Organize local compliance knowledge deep-dive sessions with key Customer Success, Sales, and Product team stakeholders.
- Work with CS & product teams to translate compliance learnings into tangible product recommendations to ensure our products and systems are meeting the highest technical and content standards.
- Support the Ops team in key strategic projects (among others: DPIAs, TIAs; and get behind the scenes knowledge on commercial negotiations, transactional legal work and day-to-day legal operations such as outside counsel management, or other strategic projects such as code of conduct, carbon neutral initiatives, etc.).
QUALIFICATIONS
- Basic knowledge or understanding of laws and regulations in order to enhance the quality of our local compliance center.
- Has an affinity for compliance and is able to distill complex legal jargon into comprehensible client-friendly terms.
- A effective communicator with a hands-on approach in coordinating deep-dive sessions with internal stakeholders.
- Full professional proficiency in English, written and spoken.
- You crave learning. Pro-active, not reactive approach.
- Takes a high degree of ownership over their work.
- Being a compassionate, unselfish, true team player!
